Bringing the Burton World Back to Life

Any film worth its salt will go through a period of development. Indeed, Batman 1989 took ten years before it made it to the screen.

Batman Prologue has not been without it's on fair share of development. I first started life back in 2000 as a short film called Batman: Closure and was essentially the final act of a Batman: Year One script I had been working on. I had even gone as far as creating a teaser trailer for the project, which you can view by clicking on the icon below.

As I continued through the development process however, it became obvious that what I really wanted to do, was make a film set in the world of Batman 1989. The suit that I designed for Batman: Closure even had '89 design elements in it. It seemed like a logical step to make my film a prequel to Batman '89 and enthused me more than I thought possible.

Of course making a film set in any Tim Burton realised world is no mean feat and I knew in order to pull it off I would need to take my time and surround myself with as much talent as possible.

Luckily, I found to my delight that Batman '89 is still much loved and the offers of help were plentiful. Talented people from all over the world are helping me recreate Gotham City, The Batmobile, the Costume and all the other elements that made Batman 1989 a unique and much loved classic movie experience.

Below are some of the storyboards and designs that were created for Batman: Closure
