Dreams in Darkness Designing Batman Prologue
One of the many reasons I wanted to make a prequel to Batman 1989 was to see Anton Furst's wonderful Gotham City designs once more. All movies require some kind of Production Design, but Batman Prologue had a step up in this arena by utilising unused concepts from the '89 movie. Unfortunately Furst passed away in the early nineties, but his genius lives on in these Production designs. Through the use of CGI, Matte Paintings, Miniatures and Sets, Furst's conceptual marvels will once again grace the screen. I was fortunate to recently hold a conversation with one of Anton's close friends, who told me upon seeing some of the miniatures work going into Prologue; "They look great I am sure Ant would have loved them"
